This course will look at film and society in post-war Britain, from the 1940s to the early 1960s. We will explore how people’s hopes for a reconstructed Britain and changes and conflicts in society were represented on film. We will also look at how and why films during this time of rapid change became bolder in exploring issues of sexuality, youth culture, race and ethnicity.
