Julie Charlesworth

In addition to tutoring for the WEA, Dr Julie Charlesworth works part-time as a lecturer/manager in social sciences at The Open University in Milton Keynes. She has also worked at Essex, Leeds and Hertfordshire universities. Julie is an enthusiastic garden volunteer with the National Trust and also looks after the London garden of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. Not surprisingly, she is passionate about old buildings, historic gardens as well as film history and this is reflected in her WEA teaching on country houses and British postwar cinema. She lives in Oxfordshire in a 17th century house and battles the weeds to grow fruit, vegetables and cut flowers on two allotments.
